5 reasons we love Co-Habits and why you should too
The Ghanaian comedy series Co-Habits is full of laughter and drama, and serves us with pure friendship and couple goals.
Directed by Peter Sedufia (Sidechic Gang), Co-Habits is a story about two lovers, Kay (Fiifi Coleman) and Lily (Caroline Sampson), who are gearing towards marriage but decide to cohabit first just to see how compatible they are before they say “I do”.
Co-Habits also stars Jeffery Nortey, Jackie Ankrah and the Canadian-born Ghanaian actress, Hailey Sumney.
Here are 5 reasons why we love Co-Habits and why you should also clear your watchlist for it.
The couple goals are too relatable
First of all, Kay and Lilly are our favourite Ghanaian TV couple. Their love story is not superficial, and it serves as a litmus test to relationships in real life and would make you cherish your significant other’s inadequacies.
The jealousy that comes with the ‘besties’ of the lovers
Even though Kay and Lily are the centre of attraction in Co-Habits, their individual best friends Ivan and Rose bring as much drama to the story in how they always end up ruining everything or saving the day.
Despite not agreeing on almost everything concerning Kay and Lily’s relationship, Rose and Ivan are just a joy to watch during their fierce battles. The height of their ‘enmity’ is when they end up in bed together on Valentine’s Day and at another point fight over a piece of fried chicken.
Comedy of “opposites”
Among Co-Habits’ cast of characters, you will encounter single friends who think they can offer the best relationship advice and a marriage counselor dealing with serious marital problems in her own home.
Cohabitation depicted in the most intriguing way
It is a common trend to find couples cohabiting before finally getting married. Co-Habits throws light on the age-long phenomenon and leaves ardent watchers of the series to decipher the pros and cons for themselves.
Always a happy ending
Even though you would think Kay and Lilly would end up calling off their relationship with their divergent views on some issues, they always end up “agreeing to disagree” which is the beauty in every relationship. The gimmicks that come with everyday cohabitation have nothing on this couple.
Catch the new Co-Habits S2 on Showmax which sees our Kay and Lilly explore options of owning a small home together and the financial and personal challenges that come with it. You can also binge-watch Co-Habits S1 on Showmax.
