Watch: Crime and Justice Season 2 now

The first of its kind in Kenya, Crime and Justice Season 1 was praised by fans for addressing difficult topical issues in the country such as femicide and domestic abuse, terrorism and radicalisation, while also exposing the limits of the justice system in Kenya.

At the 2021 Kalasha Awards, Crime and Justice was nominated for all three major awards across all the TV Drama categories: Best TV Drama, Best Lead Actor (for Munyua) and Best Lead Actress (for Hassan who won in this category).

Crime and Justice was the most popular show among Showmax subscribers in Kenya when it premiered in February 2021 and remained in the top spot for nine weeks straight. The show was also among the top 10 most-watched titles overall on Showmax in Kenya in 2021.

In season 2, the drama and action go a notch higher as Makena and Silas go up against a powerful and dangerous enemy. The show also dives into Makena’s mysterious background and questions Silas’ moral conflict and his connection to his shifty networks.

Also reprising their roles in season 2 alongside Hassan and Munyua is Maqbul Mohammed (Makutano Junction) as DCI Boss Kebo, Paul Ogola (Kati Kati, Sense8) as the no-nonsense prosecutor Sokoro, Brian Ogola (Lusala, Poacher) as the resident pathologist Clive, Koome Kinoti as Makena’s troublesome teenager Yaro and Justin Miriichi as the defence lawyer Tobias.

Season 2 also sees the return of John Sibi-Okumu as the powerful politician Barasa and new faces joining the cast such as Mumbi Maina (The Matrix Resurrections, Sense8), Charles Ouda (Makutano Junction, The First Grader), Sheila Munyiva (Rafiki, Country Queen), Bilal Mwaura (40 Sticks, Uradi) and Raymond Ofula (Queen Sono, The System).

Crime and Justice is directed by Adam Neutzsky-Wulff (All The Little Things We Kill, You Are Here) and Kenyans Likarion Wainaina (Supa Modo), Tosh Gitonga (Nairobi Half Life, Disconnect) and Edwin Kamau (40 Sticks).

Crime and Justice is the first Showmax Original series in Kenya, and also Showmax’s first co-production with global broadcaster CANAL+ Group.
