Dream S1-2

Little does tween Thea (Yivali Rurling) know that her nightmares are a glimpse of things to come. While she dreams of her future self as an adult woman, it’s actually foresight about an impending accident that will not only change the world forever, it’s going to impact Thea directly. So, she’s dreaming about something to come, because of something that’s also about to happen… got it? Good!

Obviously, you’ll need to read subtitles unless you’re fluent in Swedish. It’s a lovely little sci-fi mystery thriller and the young cast outshine their adult co-stars because of their innocence and bravery. Episodes are short, 13 minutes each, so it’s a quick binge for you. The scenery is also wonderful, switching effortlessly between abandoned dock warehouses, leafy green suburbs and frozen wastelands of Sweden. Keep your focus on the screen though to remember what’s in the present (with young Thea), what’s in the future (with adult Thea) and what’s in the middle.

It’s directed by Amir Chamdin, who started his career directing video short films for Swedish pop band The Cardigans in 2003 and the critically acclaimed series Hassel.

Eight episodes are ready to stream on Showmax now.
