Clarice S1

Aussie actress Rebecca Breeds is flawless as FBI Agent Clarice Starling – close your eyes and you’d swear it’s Jodie Foster in the role that made her famous in the 1991 horror thriller The Silence of the Lambs (watch it on Showmax). She looks and sounds exactly like Jodie did and her mannerisms are perfect. The rest of the series … that’s debatable.

If you’re looking for a chilling and thrilling watch, the 13-episode series will have you on the edge of your seats. It’s set a few months after Clarice’s confrontation with serial killer Buffalo Bill and there are flashbacks – the show uses scenes and edited footage from the movie to fill these gaps. There are no references to Hannibal Lecter, but returning characters like Paul Krendler (Michael Cudlitz) and Catherine Martin (Marnee Carpenter) connect the series and movie.

It’s dark and follows Clarice working on some truly baffling cases.
