Intergalatic

With only eight episodes, Intergalactic, now streaming on Showmax, is a quick binge. But it’s so worth it if you’re looking for a light action-packed adrenaline-filled sci-fi series that won’t make you think too hard.

It’s set in the year 2143 and thanks to amazing CGI, you’d think that everything (including the giant prison ship and the planet Arcadia) is real. The premise sees rookie sky cop Ash Harper (Savannah Steyn – before you ask, she’s British born and raised) on the run on a prison planet when she’s framed for stealing an important energy source for an evil government. Instead of staying and fighting to prove her innocence, Ash flees in an escape not entirely of her own making and becomes a legit wanted criminal.

The actors, which includes SA fan favourite Hakeem Kae-Kasim as Ash’s dad, are the real stars. They transform a decent script into a laugh-a-minute viewing treat thanks to dead-pan delivery and that typical dry British style of humour.
