Kyallo Kulture episode 9 recap: Thick Thighs Save Lives
Body positivity is more than skin deep in Kyallo Kulture episode 9. Betty visits a luxury body spa for a session of laser liposuction. Her weight-loss journey involves clean eating, plenty of exercise, and what she calls some “science.” She says it’s about doing what feels good. “You don’t have to do lipo,” says Betty. “Just do something that your body will appreciate.”

We catch up with the sisters in the countryside, in the highlands of Kenya, where Mercy wants them to experience a dinner date with a difference. It’s not long before the conversation turns to social media, and how posting pictures of themselves online can often lead to negative comments about their bodies.
When Mercy was young, she was teased for being skinny. Gloria was body-shamed for being “too small” and Betty felt pressure about being “too curvy” when she was a news anchor. It’s fair to say the Kyallo sisters have faced their fair share of body shaming. So what to do? Ignore the trolls and laugh at the haters!

“It’s okay to look the way you are,” Betty says. “Whether you’re big, curvy or petite, I think that self-love is so important because the moment you love yourself, nobody can tell you anything.”
“I’m just Betty, take me as I am or take the next bus and leave!”
After dinner, Mercy treats her sisters to a home-spa night. The fireplace is lit, rose petals laid out, and Mercy makes an announcement… we won’t spoil it for you, after all, it’s only for fans (you’ll need to watch episode 9 to catch the inside joke!).
If you like keeping up with the Kyallos as much as we do, make sure you add Kyallo Kulture to your Showmax watchlist and catch new episodes every Friday.
