Producer Sammy Dee speaks on Take Me Home S2
Kenya’s entertainment dynamo Sammy Dee has never been one to play it safe. From belting out chart-topping gospel hits to dominating the TV scene, Sammy is a creative force to reckon with.
Remember the gospel group sensation BMF? Sammy was at the heart of it, delivering hits like I Live for You that ruled the gospel airwaves. But he didn’t stop there. Trading the mic for the director’s chair, he got to work with some of the biggest names in the biz – from Size 8 and Hopekid to Alemba, DJ Sadic, and Daddy Owen – helping create their music videos.

Now, Sammy’s making waves in the world of television. He was the brain behind Nai-Rich, the smash-hit show that ranked among the top 10 most-watched on Showmax in 2024, and the reality dating drama Take Me Home.
In an exclusive, Sammy reflects on the journey of bringing Take Me Home S2 to Showmax and the bold decisions that have defined it.
How does this season differ from Season 1 in terms of narrative and production quality?
The first season focused heavily on social media personalities—we really wanted to bring in characters who were already famous online. However, for this season, we’ve added more diverse stories, showcasing individuals who aren’t as well-known but still have compelling narratives.
In terms of production quality, we have made significant improvements. This season is much more polished, with upgraded visuals and content that’s even more entertaining. We are always striving to elevate the experience for our audience, and I believe achieved that this time around.
The show has a unique concept of reuniting exes. What inspired you to create such a show?
The idea came from a conversation I had with some friends. We were discussing exes—how some people wouldn’t mind meeting them again, while others never really understood why their relationships ended in the first place.
That got me thinking: what if we created a show that brings exes back together? It sounded crazy, but also intriguing. The first season was already wild, but this season takes up a notch. We were very intentional in our casting, aiming for diversity—not just in age but also in cultures and beliefs. It’s truly a mix of different perspectives, and I think audiences will love it.
Claudia Naisabwa joined as the new host this season. How did her involvement shape the show?

When we were casting, we asked ourselves, “Who would be the best fit to connect with our diverse cast?” Claudia was the clear choice. She brings so much energy and relatability, which makes her perfect for the role.
Of course, she had big shoes to fill from the previous season, but she has done an incredible job. Her presence has added a fresh dynamic, and I think fans will really appreciate her contribution to the show.
What can fans expect this season?
Fans can expect a rollercoaster of emotions! You’ll laugh, cry, and feel deeply connected to the stories. We’ve kept things authentic and relatable, so it’s bound to tug at your heartstrings while also entertaining you.
What’s next for you?
I’m always thinking about the next big thing. I want to keep exploring unique concepts and telling stories that push boundaries while remaining grounded in Kenyan culture.
