The River: Lindiwe and Zolani dump Tumi’s body into the river
Just when Lindiwe and Tumi were getting along like a house on fire, something wrong had to happen to break their newfound bond. The mother and daughter have been working on their relationship for the last couple of months but unfortunately, the happy reunion was short-lived when Lindiwe finally realised that Tumi caused Mbali’s death.
For a very long time, Zolani has been on his aunt’s case about Tumi. However, because she’s been desperate to connect with her daughter, Lindiwe refused to pay attention to Zolani’s theories. Things between the aunt and nephew got so bad that Zolani moved out of the house and even left his job as the mine manager. The position, which was offered to Tumi, came with a lot of nice perks.
The truth comes out
Tumi was delighted with the offer, although she was also understandably nervous about the added responsibility. While they were planning their future as a team, things took a turn for the worse. The mother-daughter duo had a girls’ night in, and the wine was flowing. Tumi had a bit too much to drink and she let something slip after Lindiwe opened up about losing Mbali.
“The worst thing about losing a child is that the pain doesn’t go away. It grows every single day,” she told Tumi. “I know the pain of losing someone you love. Not every day will be the same. Some days are just easier than others,” Tumi replied. They then hugged each other but the moment was ruined after Tumi said something that she shouldn’t have.
“If only that security building hadn’t burned down. You’d have all the answers you’re looking for. But now it’s all impossible,” she told Lindiwe. This was all the confirmation Lindiwe needed about Tumi’s involvement in Mbali’s death.
She decided to reach out to Zolani, who had moved out of the mansion. She told him that she had discovered the truth and begged him to forgive her. They worked things out and Lindiwe decided to go ahead with killing Tumi.
The following morning, she told her daughter not to go to work and tricked her into believing that they were going to go on a picnic, telling her that she wants to teach her leadership skills. Although hesitant at first, Tumi agreed to go out with her mother.
Is Tumi dead?
Things seemed okay at first and they were chatting and having a good time in the car. But things got a bit tense after Tumi realised that Lindiwe was driving to the river. She told Lindiwe that she wasn’t comfortable with going there but she reassured her that everything would make sense. “Every bad thing that we’ve experienced will be healed today. Trust me,” Lindiwe said.
When they got to the river, Lindiwe confronted Tumi about what she had done to Mbali. “You’ll never be like me. You’re a photocopy, not the original,” she shouted at Tumi, and asked her to get on her knees to say her last prayer. Zolani watched as Lindiwe attacked and strangled Tumi until she ran out of breath.
They then dragged her and threw her body into the river. We didn’t see that one coming! What’s going to happen next? Stay tuned to The River every weekday on Showmax 15 minutes after the 1Magic broadcast.
