Tiek Tok Boem! (2025)

A new wave of Afrikaans TikTokers has taken over the local scene with their so-called Drama Lives. Some might say they’re ruling it. Others might argue they’re ruining it.

These live streams are filled with cyberbullying, drug and alcohol abuse, violence, vulgar language, and, on occasion, even flushing your ex’s ashes down the toilet.  Sadly, these chaotic broadcasts have also led to attempted suicides, aired live on TikTok.

Created by Rian van Heerden and Provoco (the team behind the SAFTA-winning Sex in Afrikaans), Tiek Tok Boem! focuses on the people behind some of the most controversial TikTok handles.

This 90-minute documentary delves into the origin stories of, among others,  Amelda Claassens, BinLaken, Leigh Pasheka and Tippex, exploring how TikTok has transformed their lives, fattened their wallets, and brought them to the edge. It raises the ultimate question: where does the line between fame and catastrophe lie before it all goes too far?"
