Widow Clicquot (2023)
Widow Clicquot is based on the true story of the “Grande Dame of Champagne”, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin (1777–1866) who, at the age of 20, becomes Madame Clicquot after an arranged marriage into a winemaking family.
Critics Choice Super Award nominee Haley Bennett stars opposite Tom Sturridge (The Sandman), BAFTA nominee Sam Riley (Ian Curtis in Control), and Natasha O’Keeffe (Selene in The Wheel of Time, Lizzie Starke in Peaky Blinders).
Based on the 2008 book The Widow Clicquot by bestselling biographer (and winemaker) Tilar J Mazzeo, the biopic premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has an 80% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with Deadline hailing it as “fast-paced and sexy.”
