Jemeji S1
Jemji explores the culture and mythology associated with the people of Badagry. This Africa Magic series follows Senami George, an idealistic UK-trained doctor who returns home for her NYSC. Unlike most Yankee students, she is uncomfortably excited to serve in the rural Aji village, much to the chagrin of her fellow corp members, Obi and Folake.
However, what appears to be a dream adventure fast becomes a nightmare as a family mystery unravels in strange ways. Senami is on a mission, a daughter of Aji who has returned to figure out why her family stopped visiting and why no one talks about her beloved grandmother.
Folake is her polar opposite; she is less enthusiastic about serving in Aji. However, the personalities around the village interest her. From the chief who is a rogue debtor to the dreaded village witch, who transforms into a bird at night. She plans to write stories about them on her blog.
Obi falls somewhere in the middle, he doesn’t have a reason to complain because he is redeploying.
Jemeji pairs young, talented actors such as Omawunmi Dada, Tope Tedela, Bucci Franklin, and Ayoola Ayolola with veteran Akin Lewis, Tony Akposheri and Nollywood OG Mercy Johnson. The series is jointly directed by Victor Sanchez, Olufemi Odugbemi and Pat Oghire Imobhio.
The writing team, which includes Dami Elebe (Skinny Girl in Transit), Bibi Ukpo (Hotel Majestic) and Chris Ihidero (Forbidden, Hush), is headed by Tunde Aladese (Ajoche).
