Once Upon A Time in London (2019)
It’s gritty in the city – infamous gangsters Jack “Spot” Comer (Terry Stone) and Billy “Hilly” Hill (Leo Gregory) declare war on each other in 60s London as they feud brutally for control of the city’s underworld. When you watch Once Upon a Time in London, you’ll hear Jack’s prophetic warning: “There can only be one king of the underworld.”
Don’t watch Once Upon A Time In London if you’re faint of heart – there are bar brawls and street fights, people have their heads kicked in and their faces are cut with razorblades. One poor guy even has darts thrown at his face while he’s tied to the wall. But should you expect anything less of a guns-blazing British gangster crime flick? Not at all.
The screenplay is fantastic for its genre – and the cockney rhyming and swearing is on a whole new level. Think of The Godfather movie franchise condensed into one, with Guy Ritchie’s Snatch and The Gentlemen mixed in for a little light-hearted comedy vibes.
