Taken Down
Taken Down is not a light drama. The 2018 series centres on the horrific murder of a young Nigerian woman in Dublin, Ireland. The question that the police now have to ask is: who did it and why?
The drama is gritty and dark. It’s not an easy subject to deal with, especially with the current controversy around immigration facing Europe, where people fleeing the African continent will do anything to get into the UK and other European countries. That makes this all the more real and relevant.
It’s a single season show, so expect a neat resolution at the end. But that doesn’t mean it won’t leave you with questions. Such as, how can we live in a world where people searching for a better life are forced into the sex trade rather than return to the country where they were born?
