Meet the cast of Tali’s Baby Diary

The people who made Tali’s Wedding Diary so hilarious are back – and even better, there are some new talents to round out the cast of Tali’s Baby Diary.

Julia Anastasopoulos – Tali

Julia first came into the public eye as the hilarious doyenne of do-it-yourself, SuzelleDIY. After racking up millions of YouTube views, Julia, who’s also a well-known illustrator and artist, was ready to debut her new creation: Tali, “a Joburg girl who’s recently moved to Cape Town”. Julia is married to co-writer and director Ari Kruger, and the couple owns Sketchbook Studios, which produced both seasons of Tali.

Anton Taylor – Darren

Cape Town born and bred, Anton made his name on a series of funny YouTube videos before making a splash as Darrennnnn-ah. As well as being a hilarious comedy actor, Anton is a rugby commentator for SuperSport.

Glen Biderman-Pam – Rael

As well as acting, award-winning comedian Glen does stand-up and scored a viral hit with his hilarious YouTube video My Kreepy Teacher, a send-up of the hit doccie My Octopus Teacher. Is he at his most hilarious playing wannabe mover and shaker Rael Rosen? You decide.

Lara Toselli – Gabi

Jozi girl Lara is a well-known face on SA TV – she was a kids’ TV presenter, studied drama at Wits and went on to make TV shows like her web series Chin Up!, which follows the life of a struggling actress, Afrikaans short Swaaibraai and 2020 movie A Boere-Krismis. Lara plays Tali’s ultimate frenemy, Gabi.

Kate Normington – Michelle

Kate is a veteran of the South African and international stage and screen, lighting up productions from Cape Town to the West End. She’s won multiple Fleur du Cap and Naledi awards, and of course she’s had many opportunities to show off her comedy chops – not least as Tali’s mother, Michelle.

Guy de Lancey – Les

An accomplished theatre, TV and film actor with two Fleur du Cap awards to his name, Guy left South Africa as a refugee from apartheid in the 1980s and lived, studied and worked abroad. Luckily for us, he’s returned, bringing his considerable talents home. He plays Les, Tali’s property developer father.

Megan Furniss – Janice

Improv genius and comedian Megan doesn’t only act – she also facilitates team building sessions meant to help corporate types find their inner actor. That sounds pretty challenging to us … Megan plays Darren’s happy-go-lucky mom, who’s living with the couple “temporarily”.

Stephanie Anastasopoulos – Mikaela

If you think the rapport between Tali and Mikaela seems off-the-charts genuine, it’s because Stephanie is Julia’s real-life sister.

Jared & Marc Seleibowitz – Oliver Booth

Standup comedian and actor Oliver is a frequent collaborator with Glen Biderman-Pam. In Tali, he does double duty as both of the Seleibowitz brothers, Goldprop’s property rivals.

Siv Ngesi – Selebi

Comedian and actor Siv has an extensive list of credits, including Knuckle City, Copposites and Still Breathing. That’s why you’re bound to recognise him brilliantly playing the Seleibowitz’s new partner, Selebi.

Kate Pinchuck – Taryn Wiener

Watch Kate’s standup talents in Frizz Pop Presents: Women are F**%**g Hilarious! and

Live Series: Laugh At First Sight. In Tali, she plays the new addition to the Goldprop team, Darren’s clumsy cousin, Taryn.

Lucienne Bestall – Ashley

Actress, artist and writer Lucienne has a number of talents. She’s exhibited her art internationally and written for several major publications and art galleries.

Martial Batchamen Tchana – Jean-Luc

Voice and screen actor Martial originally hails from Cameroon. He plays Jean-Luc, Tali’s personal trainer-turned-personal assistant, who always seems to be going above and beyond the call of duty. While he doesn’t have a massive role, we thought there would be quite a few ladies out there keen to know more about him …

Deon Lotz – Dr Buchanan

SAFTA-winning veteran actor Deon is a familiar face, having appeared in a huge number of local and international productions. See him on Showmax in Trackers, 2020 true crime drama Griekwastad alongside Arnold Vosloo and more. See Deon in the second episode as the hapless Dr Buchanan, Tali’s gynae of choice.

Shamilla Miller – Kim

Rising star Shamilla has been seen recently in Showmax Original The Girl from St. Agnes and in the acclaimed short Nommer 37, as well as Netflix teen series Blood & Water.

The cameos

Coconut Kelz / Lesego Tlhabi – herself

As her satirical alter-ego Coconut Kelz, Lesego Tlhabi makes a highly anticipated appearance as Tali’s BFF-at-first-sight. Follow Coconut Kelz on Insta for more of her hilarious sendups.

Nik Rabinowitz – The Auctioneer

Award-winning Nik Rabinowitz needs no introduction. He’s been the star of countless one-man shows – watch him in CC Presents: Sex Live at the Lyric. Nik has a cameo in the second episode as a fast-talking property auctioneer.

Schalk Bezuidenhout – Jonothan

You might do a double take to see standup comedian and actor Schalk without his signature snor. As an actor, he’s been hilarious in Hotel and brilliant in Kanarie, while several of his standup comedy specials are also available to stream on Showmax: Schalk Bezuidenhout: Schalkie, Schalk Bezuidenhout: Snorseun and in his hilarious spin on the news Die Ware Naarheid met Schalk Bezuidenhout.

Danny K – himself

Singer, songwriter and actor Danny K makes a cameo appearance as himself. The SAMA-winning musician and his wife, Lisa Gundlefinger, appear as members of Tali’s celebrity antenatal class. In real life, the couple has two sons, so they would have had some great advice for all those new parents!

Jeannie D – herself

Presenter, actress and all-round TV personality Jeannie De Gouveia is the kind of friend Tali dreams of – so it’s no surprise when she’s invited to Tali’s glamorous baby shower. Keep an eye out for her at this one-of-a-kind event!
