A theatre great
The South African theatre industry has lost one of its greats as Mncedisi was well known for acting in several theatre plays like Sizwe Banzi is Dead, alongside Atandwa Kani (It’s Complicated and Love By Chance). The play was written by Dr John Kani (How to Steal 2 Million), Athol Fugard and Winston Ntshona.
Dr John Kani shared a few tweets in tribute to the actor as he regarded him as his son and he also shared the actor’s immeasurable impact on him as a director while they toured the USA.
Other stage plays he starred in include Call Us Crazy and Woza Albert. He has also directed several productions like Wangesheya-Wangesheya, Kanyamazane and Vuka Machel at the Market Theatre.
An inspiration to many

A mentor to aspiring actors
He is remembered not only by his peers but also by many aspiring actors whose passion for a career in the arts was ignited by seeing his work. His passion and generous nature inspired everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
