Showmax App snags second in Sunday Times Top Brands Awards
The Showmax app came in second behind the DStv Now app in the 2019 Sunday Times Top Brands Awards, as voted by consumers.
In an awards ceremony held at the Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg, the winners of the 2019 Sunday Times Top Brands were announced.
Paid Streaming Service was one of eight new categories included in this year’s survey, which is in its 21st year. South Africa’s consumers voted Netflix in at 3rd place, Showmax in at 2nd place, and DStv Now took 1st place. Both Showmax and DStv Now are MultiChoice products, housed in the Connected Video division.
The results are based on face-to-face surveys of 3 500 consumers, conducted by Kantar on behalf of the Sunday Times, and are considered a barometer of consumer sentiment towards brands in South Africa.
