The River: Zweli gives love another chance

Who would have thought that Zweli would ever get over Lindiwe? We all know how much he loved her and have seen what he was willing to do to protect her. But life has changed, and the divorced top cop is ready to let go of the past. So, what exactly got Zweli to this point? Let us fill you in.

Zweli and Gail hit it off

After divorcing his wife of many years a few months ago, it looked like Zweli was ready to find love. The police commissioner has had quite a rough time after he let go of Lindiwe. In just a short space of time, he’s had to deal with heartbreak, a rebellious daughter and drama with Khanyisa Diamonds. However, it now seems like Lady Luck is finally on his side.

A new CEO for the mine has been appointed and she’ll be doing more than saving the collapsing business as she and Zweli have developed feelings for each other. While Gail’s main task is to make sure that Khanyisa Diamonds goes back to the top, it’s quite clear that her other mission is to win Zweli’s heart. These two hit it off the first time they met, and they’ve been spending a lot of time together.

Zweli was a bit scared at first. Imagine being married for years and then finding out that your wife is not who you thought she was! That would put anyone off love for a long time. After getting over his fear, he decided to give love another shot.

Oupa turns on Cobra and Percy

Cobra is currently reaping the rewards of corruption. Instead of solely focusing on his role as a councillor, he’s been getting his hands dirty by creating fake companies and giving tenders to his friends. With the money, he’s managed to get himself a new car (you’d think he’d get a house first!) and he’s been spoiling his siblings. While it looked like he was winning at first, he’s now realised that once you get to the top (however you get there), everyone else wants to come with you.

In just a week, Cobra has had to organise a tender for his friend Oupa, who threatened to kill him if he didn’t get the tender. Now Oupa stands to make just over R1 million from the project and guess what? Cobra and Percy also want their share. Now this is where things get a bit complicated because although Oupa got the tender through Cobra, he refuses to share the money with him.

It will be interesting to see how far this drama will go. We can’t help but wonder if this friendship will be able to withstand this situation. There’s only one way to find out what happens next and that’s simply following The River on Showmax. New episodes air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
