The much-anticipated Academy Awards 2019 nominations were announced by Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross and winner of last year’s Best Original Screenplay for Silicon Valley Kumail Nanjiani.

Of course, as is expected, in that old Oscars fashion, there were a few snubs, shocks, and surprises – and yes, Wakanda Forever as Black Panther became the first superhero movie to receive a Best Picture nomination.
