Who’s your daddy? The 5 most shocking moments on Utatakho S8

In another season of Utatakho, presenter Nimrod Nkosi helps men and women find their biological fathers. The process also includes finding ways to help them deal with the joy and pain of discovering the truth.

When the results of the paternity DNA tests are revealed, it’s not always easy to accept the truth. From disagreements to emotionally taxing moments of denial, the results can veer towards tragedy. Below we highlight the most shocking moments this season.

A son’s trauma

Wandi fell into a life of crime and almost killed his mom with a hammer in search of the truth.

Wandi has been in search of his biological father for almost his entire life. Abandoned by his mother at a young age, and without a father, Wandi spiralled into a life of crime.

He’s been arrested eight times and eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison. All of this happened during his teens.

When he was released on parole, his desperate search for answers about his father continued – he even threatened to kill his mother in a rage.

Wandi has three kids, and being a father makes him even more eager to find out about his identity.

The episode ends with a paternity test that proves that the man he thought was his biological father is sadly not. Wandi is shattered at the realisation that he might never find the truth about the paternal side of his family. What breaks him even more is that his mother doesn’t seem to care about the entire situation.

A father denies his kids

Sphiwe Zikalala’s ex-husband, Samson, questioned the paternity of their eldest child, which led to him deciding to undergo a paternal test on all five of their children.

Sphiwe explains that when the eldest son was conceived, she and Samson had broken up. During that time she had a relationship with another man.

After many back and forth arguments, DNA tests are done and the results show that Samson is, in fact, the father of all five children.

A heated argument erupts between the family members when Samson expresses that one of his kids broke his heart when he stole his livestock and clothes. It seems like there is a lot of underlying issues in this family that have to be addressed.

“None of these men is your father”

Londiwe’s situation is just as sad as the others on this list. Londiwe is desperate to know where she belongs, and coming to Utatakho made her journey even more confusing and heartbreaking.

There are three men who are alleged to be her father – two have already done the DNA tests and both tests came out negative.

The third man eventually did the test on the show and the results came out negative, leaving Londiwe in disarray.

Her mother stands by her word that there’s no one other than these three men who could possibly be Londiwe’s father. She has to continue with the emotionally draining search for her biological father.

Precious has been living a lie

Precious Masilela has been uncertain about who her real father is. According to her knowledge, two men by the names of Petrus and Simon could potentially be her biological father.

Precious spoke well of Simon, who claims to have taken care of Precious her whole life without questioning their relationship. When results came back, both men were disappointed to find out that Precious is not their biological daughter.

Precious is shattered to find out the truth but still affirms her love for her mother and makes it clear that she and the mom would need to keep all lines of communication open in order for their relationship to work after this discovery.

Everyone deserves a father like Bab Lawrence

Bab Lawrence wanted to do a DNA test on his eight children as he suspects that four of them are not his.

Upon receiving the results, Bab Lawrence finds out that some of the children are not his. He is devastated but assures them all that he will remain a father figure in their lives.
