How to watch the FIFA World Cup in 4K on Showmax Pro

What do I need to stream the FIFA World Cup in 4K?

You’ll need a 4K compatible device, such as a 4K-compatible TV, an AndroidTV, tvOS or the DStv Streama. Note that both the streaming or media-box device (for example, the AndroidTV) as well as the monitor (for example, the TV the streaming device is plugged into) have to be capable of 4K playback.

You’ll also need an internet line speed of minimum 15Mbps.

4K streaming will use about 90MB per minute.

My device is 4K enabled, but I’m not getting 4K

Sometimes, even though you have selected the option to stream 4K on your device, it turns out that your device is adaptive. This means that it adapts to your line speed in real-time.

You might have a 50mbps line and a 4K device, but sometimes that line drops to 20mbps and your 4K device adapts by dropping the video quality.

It’s also possible that your 4K-enabled device is not compatible with the Showmax app. Due to an incompatibility in the software, you can unfortunately not stream 4K via the Showmax app on Hisense or on LG smart TVs. However, you can stream via a device like an Explora Ultra or Streama connected to a Hisense or LG TV.

What about other resolutions?

The 4K stream itself will go as low as 216p. The HD stream will have standard parameters (216p to 1080p).

Can I stream in 4K on Showmax Pro Mobile?

No, because Showmax Pro Mobile is only available on a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. Showmax Pro Mobile subscribers can stream every FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 game live in HD.
