The worst footballers’ haircuts of all time
Many footballers are known for having out-there and memorable haircuts but, unfortunately, this isn’t always a good thing. With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (often the prime display of hit-and-miss hairstyles) around the corner, with every game available to stream on Showmax Pro in Africa, courtesy of SuperSport, we’ve decided to take a look at some of the weird and wonderful cuts that have graced our screens and football pitches in the past few decades.
Rodrigo Palacio

We’ll get the ball rolling with a cut that’s too good (read: bad) to ignore. We’ve all heard of a one-hit wonder but Rodrigo Palacio decided to switch things up and become a one-strand wonder instead.
Abel Xavier

Abel must’ve heard that blonds have more fun and decided to take it up a notch by throwing in a mohawk, some cornrows, and a beard to match. Questionable decisions all round, if you ask us.
David Beckham

Becks is known for his ever-changing hairstyles and this is probably one of his worst. The only thing more shocking than these corn rows is the fact that he went to meet Nelson Mandela with his hair like this. Bold choice? Yes. Bad choice? Definitely.
Taribo West

Taribo obviously went to the barber with a picture of Shrek and said “You see Shrek’s ears? I want pigtails that look like that – but in blue and yellow.” At least his barber understood the assignment, but it’s a no from us.
Dijbril Cissé

Long gone are the days of the mohawk but Dijbril decided that he would add a twist to the ugly classic. The twist? The addition of the subby strip topped with the lumo green that actually made it so much worse.
Neymar

Neymar may have wanted something bold when he asked for these frosted tips, and we have to admit, it certainly is a bold look. But not bold enough to be beautiful, or, even, vaguely attractive.
