Pregnancy scares and more drama on The Buzz episode 5
Episode 5 of BBNaija: The Buzz Season 9 brought viewers another round of intense drama and captivating highlights from the Big Brother Naija house. Hosted by the ever-charismatic Toke Makinwa, this episode featured TV personality Olufemi Daniels and radio personality Taymi B, who didn't hold back in dissecting the juiciest moments of the week, from Chinwe’s pregnancy scare to the evolving relationships and explosive altercations among the Housemates.
The episode kicked off with a heartwarming clip showing the moment it was announced that Housemate TJ’s wife had given birth to twins. The news sparked a joyous celebration in the house, reminding everyone of the real-life stakes and emotions tied to the game. The conversation quickly shifted to the week's other big news: Chinwe’s pregnancy scare and her sudden exit from the house.

Chinwe's pregnancy scare: real or strategy?
Toke Makinwa didn't waste time diving into the details of Chinwe’s pregnancy scare, a topic that had everyone buzzing. Toke quipped, “We all know that as girls when you are looking for your August visitor and it decides not to show up.” Taymi B added, “I prayed for the lady, and I think the Lord hearkened to my plea because, after all, something did happen.”
Olufemi Daniels, ever the jokester, interjected, “I hope that the Lord does not hearken to your plea though,” sparking laughter among the trio. When Toke asked the guests if they thought Chinwe was pregnant, Olufemi responded with surprising conviction, saying, “I thought she was pregnant because she was sleeping during the wager tasks, presentations and rehearsals. She hasn’t seen her period, she’s going to the restroom - these are signs of every pregnancy, right?”
This led Toke to playfully interrogate Olufemi on how he knew so much about pregnancy symptoms. Olufemi explained, “Zion was telling Femi that when they did it, he pulled out. I’m like, bro, you didn’t do this thing with some condom - how far?” Toke chimed in, “You know that pull-out…”, but Taymi B offered a different perspective, suggesting that Chinwe’s scare might have been more about seeking attention from her boyfriend. “I think it was just an attention thing - so if I am pregnant, you have to love me for God’s sake,” she speculated.

Olufemi remained steadfast in his belief that Chinwe’s pregnancy scare was genuine, citing her conversation with fellow Housemate Kassia, where she confided that she hadn’t seen her period. Toke, however, pointed out that “In that house, anything can be used as strategy; it is a competitive game.” She also expressed her surprise at Chinwe’s sudden exit, saying, “I didn’t think she would leave so quickly - I was shocked.”
Olufemi elaborated on Chinwe’s departure, stating, “When you’re in the House, because of the dynamics of the game this season, you don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. I feel like because Big Brother introduced the fact that Housemates will decide who stays or who goes, we would have seen more of Chinwe. She was probably not bringing the whole of herself out.” Toke agreed, adding that her relationship might have been playing the game instead of her.

Flirtation, love games, and betrayals
The conversation then shifted to the various relationships - or “ships” - forming in the House. Toke questioned why Kassia was put in the hot seat for being too flirty. Taymi B offered a blunt assessment, “You’re playing the game. We know we were married when we came here, we are here for the money. If I have to touch someone’s breast to get the money, I’m going to touch the breast. Are we going to be rich? Yes. So let me touch the breast.”
Olufemi critiqued another Housemate, Kellyrae, for his unrealistic demands, noting that he had moments with Handi as well. “I don’t even think she [Kassia] touched Femi’s breast,” Olufemi said, suggesting that the Housemates might sometimes forget they are married. Toke asked if the conflict between Kellyrae and Kassia would strengthen or weaken their relationship. The trio unanimously agreed it would ultimately strengthen the bond.
Toke then brought up Nelly and Sooj’s relationship, questioning whether Nelly was catching feelings. Taymi B offered a cryptic comment, “I think some people have had knowledge of each other, and you read the book and passed - now it is playing out.” Olufemi added, “For Sooj, the faults are here. Everything happened from week 1 to 4 or week 3 and a half. We saw the fact that Nelly was just trying to say, "you know what, the first time they were Head of House (HOH), something happened, and after the party, everything changed.”

Age is just a number?
One of the more intriguing discussions centred around the age difference between Housemates Topher and Anita. Toke questioned why Topher was lying to Anita about his age, to which Taymi B simply replied, “He loves her.” Toke remarked, “Age is nothing but a number,” while Olufemi argued, “You have to disclose in whatever relationship you are with someone. That is a situationship, by the way - it happened by chance.”
Toke added that sometimes the best relationships happen by chance, a sentiment Olufemi agreed with, noting that “There are people her age who are the most immature ever. Some people might be older that will show you ‘shege,’ and there can be a young guy who can be a nice guy.” Taymi B summed it up with a cheeky comment, “What’s your business with my birth certificate? Focus on my eyes.” The trio concluded that Anita probably already knew Topher’s age but just wanted him to admit it himself.

House rivalries and power struggles
The episode also delved into the various rivalries brewing in the House. Toke asked Olufemi and Taymi B about the ongoing tension between Ozee and Femi. Olufemi Daniels was firm in his belief that Ozee should learn to keep his boundaries and not try to boss others around. Taymi B suggested that Ozee might be trying to act as the elder brother in the House, while Toke speculated whether Ozee’s actions were influenced by his personality or his elitist background.
The trio also discussed the age-gap romance between Ben and Chizoba, with Toke remarking that men often have a fetish for older women. Olufemi provocatively suggested that Ben should be with Onyeka instead, calling them a “perfect match.” The episode wrapped up with a discussion about the rivalry between Onyeka and Chizoba, with the guests agreeing that Onyeka expected Chizoba to step up her game.
The show concluded with a vox pop session where fans on the street and online shared their opinions. As always, Toke couldn’t resist expressing her fondness for Shaun, saying, “I like that boy.”
