Wura Season 1 finale recap: “We need to teach Wura a lesson”

This week on Wura, Aunty Labake is trending for her drunken antics at Dimeji and Bisola’s wedding. Tumi and Ebun are watching the videos and laughing hysterically while Mide offers commentary. Who knew Aunty Labake could be this fun? There is nothing shayo cannot do!

At the Adeleke’s, Tony is a happy man. His daughter, Kanyinsola, is back safe and sound. He is in a joyous mood because his family has triumphed through many problems, and he reminds them about the importance of togetherness as they only conquer by sticking together. Only if he knew his wife was behind his daughter’s kidnap, and that the said daughter is nursing her cruel revenge.

The mood is generally great in Iperindo. Paulina’s bar is bubbling as Mide, Kazeem, and Paulina discuss the latest couple in town. Kazeem says Dimeji and Bisola won’t last because Dimeji and Tumi are soulmates. Even as they argue, the mood is light and free.

Kanyin is perhaps the only angry soul in town. Even Fola is tired of her sinister plans, but she rightfully acknowledges that they can’t beat Wura by playing nice.

“We need to teach Wura a lesson,” she suggests to Fola.

“She needs to learn not to play God over people’s lives again … Wura needs to get a taste of her own bitter medicine.”

However, Fola wants assurances that Wura won’t be hurt and that Kanyin won’t play dirty.

Tumi breaks Jeje’s heart, again

Tumi walks into Jeje’s office to ask for more work, so she is distracted and doesn’t dwell on her breaking heart. He quickly grants her request and goes further, asking her out on a date!

Things are playing out exactly how he wants them to. He orchestrated the Bisola-Dimeji saga to get Tumi, and now she is coming to him.

Tumi does her best to look great for the date. Ewa, always eager to make her friend look beautiful, gives her a gorgeous makeover.

The date starts great. Tumi looks stunning and Jeje says all the nice things a girl wants to hear.

“Told you I wanted to watch you, didn’t I?” he replies when she asks if he would say something or stare at her all night.

“You should see the view, too, breathtaking!”

Jeje orders expensive champagne and makes her laugh all night, yet the date doesn’t go according to plan. Amidst the giggling, he confesses he loves her, which unexpectedly sours the mood

“I have only loved two men in my entire life, my father and Dimeji,” she explains.

“I can’t imagine myself with anyone else. You deserve a lot more, and I really care about you, but I can’t.”

Kanyinsola strikes

After the discussion with Fola, Kanyin swings into action. She traps Wura inside her office during closing hours when everyone has left the mine. As Wura calls for help, it is Kanyin who picks up.

“You evil child, open this door,” an exasperated Wura commands.

“Kanyinsola, I swear, I will smash your face into the wall the moment I get out of here. Open this door this minute!”

Kanyin laughs. She is only just starting with her plan.

“I have a little surprise for you, open the bottom drawer,” she instructs her stepmother.

Wura obeys her command. She opens the drawer and finds a menacing python staring at her. She is immediately filled with terror and starts to scream and crawl in fear.

“I am sorry,” she begs Kanyin.

“I am so sorry, Kanyinsola. I apologise. Open this door, Kanyinsola.”

But Kanyin doesn’t listen to her plea; instead, she reminds Wura of her own evil deeds. Wura begs and wails and cries loudly, but Kanyin won’t budge. It is judgment day for Wura Amoo-Adeleke, and Kanyinsola Adeleke is judge, jury, and executioner!
