Born into Fame S1: Shamiso confronts sincerity doubts and sets boundaries
Shamiso is not afraid to confront things head-on. While it might feel uncomfortable in the moment, this is an approach that seems to work for her. On this week’s episode of Born into Fame, the media personality spoke about a few things that didn’t sit well with her. The first thing on her agenda was her encounter with AJ on the last episode of the reality series.
In that moment, Shamiso was comforting AJ who was emotional about losing their mutual friend. While Shamiso meant well, AJ remarked that she wasn’t being sincere.
Genuine care is not fake

She gave her friend, Leddi Radebe, the scoop on what’s been happening with her new famous friends. During their video call, Shamiso explained how she'd run into AJ at an event: “You know that party you were supposed to come with me to? So, there was a moment there where one of the guys there, AJ. He basically said to me that he didn’t know whether I was being sincere or not when I went to check on him at the party.”
Shamiso didn’t like being labelled as “insincere” about mental health, because it’s something she takes seriously. Leddi told her: “Number one, if he knows anything about you, you’re not the type of person to waste your time being fake. So, that’s crazy. And number two, why would anyone play about just checking in on someone? We’re not savages, are we?” She added that you can check in on someone and genuinely mean it. “Yes, just a human interaction. Like, I don’t have to know you so well or whatever,” Shamiso commented. Leddi shared that you don’t have to be best friends to care about other human beings.
There’s a part of Shamiso that feels like there’s a hidden agenda behind AJ’s comment: “I do feel like AJ said that I wasn’t sincere so that I could spend time trying to make plans with him and be around him, so that I could be like ‘you see, I am sincere. I am a real depressed person’.” Shamiso made it clear that you can’t mess around with her family and her mental health. Unfortunately, AJ has crossed the line.
Don’t call me baby

AJ is not the only one who’s rubbed Shamiso up the wrong way. Her first interaction with Robbie Junior left her feeling uneasy. This is because he called her “baby” and that, according to Shamiso, is not going to fly. She met up with Robbie Junior at a restaurant where they caught up about life and some of their cast members.
Addressing the “baby” remark, Shamiso said: “I think I’m gonna have to put this boy in line. Just to make it clear that like, I f*** with you, you’re dope, I don’t mind being friends. I don’t mind being cool, I don’t mind being business partners, but all the flirting and stuff is gonna have to [go down].”
