Carey Priscilla dishes on The Mommy Club NBO drama

Carey Priscilla is a triple threat! She is a stunning Kenyan model, a talented actress, and a celebrity makeup artist who has worked her magic on some of the biggest names in the industry.

This mom of three isn’t just killing it in the beauty world – she’s the proud owner of two thriving beauty schools in Nairobi. And if you think that’s impressive, Carey keeps her fans hooked with her laugh-out-loud TikTok skits, often featuring her hubby, Benitto.

Over the past few weeks, Carey has been stirring up the drama amongst the moms in The Mommy Club NBO where she was accused of initiating ‘beef’ between Jackie Matubia and Lynne Njihia.

In an exclusive, Carey spills the tea on behind-the-scenes deets:

How did you end up on this show?

This isn’t my first reality show experience. I actually worked on a reality show on KTN Home as a makeup artist back in the day.

As for how I ended up on The Mommy Club NBO, it’s quite a story! It was last December, and everything felt so hectic. I was super busy and didn’t even have time to check my emails properly. My PA was off at the time, and we were just coming out of the festive season, which made everything even more chaotic. The production team had been trying to reach me – they sent emails, WhatsApp messages, and even called. But thankfully, everything worked out, and here we are today. I’m so grateful for this opportunity!

So, who is your favourite mom/fellow co-star on the show?

I have known Lynne for the longest time, even back when I was just starting my makeup journey. Reconnecting with her was so natural, like we picked up right where we left off. It’s been such a beautiful and rewarding journey, and I’m truly grateful for it.

You're a business mogul and a mom of three. How do you manage it all?

I won’t lie – parenting is no walk in the park, and there are no shortcuts or secrets to making it easy. Honestly, if you’re not ready to sacrifice, don’t rush into having babies. It’s a huge commitment.

That said, I firmly believe that God’s timing is always perfect. My faith in God has been my anchor. Without it, I think I would have struggled so much more, maybe even fallen into depression.

I’m also incredibly blessed with a strong support system. My hubby has been amazing, and my siblings, and even my nannies have all been there for me in ways I can’t even begin to explain. They’ve truly made this journey manageable and filled with love.

The vasectomy conversation went viral and was revisited in the show as well. What's the story behind that?

I have never used any form of family planning up to now. I was very intentional about wanting my kids back-to-back, and thankfully, I’ve been able to achieve that. But to make it happen, I’ve had to sacrifice a lot – like putting my career on hold and focusing fully on my family.

With all that I’ve given, I feel it’s only fair for my man to step up and take on a vasectomy. It’s simple, not complicated, and it gives me peace of mind for the next 15 years until menopause.

Locally, though, I have noticed a lot of resistance from men when it comes to this topic. Many aren’t ready to have that conversation. They’re afraid to commit to one woman fully. Their biggest fear? “What if we don’t stay together? What if I want more kids later?”

Honestly, I think it’s selfish. If you can’t even consider a vasectomy for the sake of your wife and your family, where’s the fairness in that?

You and Benitto have couple goals. What's your secret to keeping the spark alive in your busy family and career?

For me, a man can never truly love you right if he doesn’t love God first. He needs to have a personal relationship with God because it’s through that connection that he learns how to love.

As a wife, I’m far from lazy. I believe in putting in the effort to keep things fresh and exciting in our relationship. I do my research, explore new ideas, and make sure we’re not stuck in a boring routine. We can’t just do the same thing day in and day out. When it comes to intimacy, for example, I believe in spicing things up – it can’t always be the same thing every time.

Coming from a family and religious background where sex was often portrayed as something taboo or “evil,” I wasn’t taught much about it growing up. The focus was on staying a virgin until marriage, and anything outside of that was seen as a sin that could push you out of the church. So, when you finally get married, there’s this expectation that you should just know how to navigate intimacy, but no one really teaches you.

Since being in this relationship, I’ve taken it upon myself to learn and grow. I’ve even taken classes with a sex therapist because that’s how committed I am to make my marriage work. My husband has been incredibly patient with me, and I want to make sure I keep surprising him and showing him how much, I value our bond.

You rejected Benito’s marriage proposal on the show, and this caused controversy on social media. How do you deal with public scrutiny?

Living under public scrutiny isn’t easy, but I’ve learned how to handle it. The key is to always be my authentic self. I don’t let societal pressure change who I am or how I live. The most important thing is knowing yourself, because when you truly know who you are, nothing anyone says or does can shake you.

You and Jackie have had crazy moments on the show. Tell us about this.

Well, I wouldn’t call her dramatic, but Jackie is someone who projects a lot. Whenever we were together with the other moms and the topic of marriage comes up, she got triggered. And honestly, I get it. It’s not easy dealing with the emotional weight of having two marriages that didn’t work out, especially when you’re surrounded by younger people who seem to be succeeding in that area. That must hit close to home for her.
