Dance General on finding closure and love on Take Me Home S2
TikTok sensation Dance General, aka Salim Gori, has been on the rise ever since joining the platform in 2020. Known for his captivating dance moves, he quickly amassed more than 100K followers by the end of his first year and remains a household name among Kenya’s top TikTok stars.
But it wasn’t just his talent that kept fans hooked, it was his high-profile romance with fellow TikToker Joisij Smile. However, their love story hit a rocky patch when cheating rumours surfaced, leading to a dramatic breakup that left fans heartbroken.

Now, the ex-lovers are forced to face their past head-on in the latest season of Take Me Home where they must confront their past and present relationships. Will they rekindle their romance, or will old wounds prove too deep to heal?
In an exclusive with Showmax, Dance General speaks on reuniting with Joisij Smile and finding love on the show:
What was your initial reaction when you were invited to join Take Me Home and reunite with your ex?
Honestly, I was shocked when I got the call. Imagine getting an offer to not only confront your past but do it in front of an audience. At first, I didn’t know how to feel. I mean, Joisij and I had been through so much - good times, bad times, and everything in between. Our relationship wasn’t perfect, and when it ended, there were so many unanswered questions.
But then I thought, maybe this is my chance to understand what really happened between us. There were so many misunderstandings that we never got to work through, and I saw this as an opportunity to get clarity.
Did you come to the show with the intention of rekindling the relationship, or were you seeking closure?
My main intention was closure. A lot of people didn’t understand what went wrong between us, so I wanted to clear the air. Plus, her current boyfriend had doubts about whether we still had feelings for each other, and I wanted to prove that there was nothing going on. It was also about proving to myself - and any future partner - that I had fully moved on.
How did you feel about living in the villa with your ex?
At first, it was incredibly awkward. I really didn’t like it. But over time, I began to understand things better, and the tension eased. We were no longer enemies, and we wanted to make that clear to everyone around us.
Were there moments when you felt tempted to walk away from the experience?
Oh, absolutely. There were times I seriously considered leaving the villa and the show entirely. But then I told myself, ‘That would be a foolish move. Be mature enough to face your issues.’ So, I stayed and worked through it.
If you had to describe your journey on Take Me Home as a movie genre or emoji, what would it be?
It would be the thinking emoji 🤔. It’s been an eye-opening experience - a mix of drama, reflection, and personal growth
If you could swap places with anyone else in the villa for a day, who would it be and why?
It would be Prince Newton! Here’s the thing - I had a crush on his ex, Nancy, when the show first started. But as time went on, things took an unexpected turn, and I found myself connecting with someone else’s ex instead.
Are you dating now?
As mentioned, I met someone on the show, and let me tell you, life is good right now. But I am not spilling all the details just yet. If you want to know who it is, you will have to watch the show and see how it all unfolds. Trust me, it’s worth the wait!
