Demonic (2021)
Written, co-produced and directed by Oscar-nominated South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Demonic follows Carly, a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of her decades-old rift with her mother are exposed.
Demonic is led by Teen Choice nominee Carly Pope (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin’s Davie Adams) as Carly. Look out for two South Africans in the cast: Leo Award nominee Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale, District 9 and Isidingo’s Joey Ortlepp, back in the 90s) as her mother, Angela, and African Movie Academy Award nominee Kandyse McClure (Sew the Winter to My Skin, Battlestar Galactica) as her best friend, Sam.
Filmed during the pandemic, Demonic was nominated for Best Picture at Sitges, among other accolades.
