Elders: Ligtoring Roete
In the seventh season of the SAFTA-winning Elders, hiker and author Erns Grundling walks the new 340km Lighthouse Route between the iconic lighthouses of Mossel Bay and Cape Agulhas.
The hike normally takes 17 days, but Erns and the Bonanza Films team spent a month on the route, as this season also includes several excursions in the area. The route first stretches along the coast from Mossel Bay to Jongensfontein, then inland to Malgas, and then further through the Overberg near Bredasdorp and again along the coast between Struisbaai and Cape Agulhas.
Guests this season include comedian Nik Rabinowitz, writer and director Bibi Slippers, and TV personalities Frazer Barry, Hamilton Wessels, Johan Badenhorst, Lindie Stander and Lynthie Jaars, as well as Erns’ then four-month-old twin boys, André Jakkals and Henry Wolf, who appear in the first episode.
