Empini Season 1 episodes 27-28 recap: Welcome to Joburg
This week on Empini, Zenzele’s arrival in Joburg turns the leadership of MPS upside down, while Winnie grapples with the shocking truth of his existence. Here’s what went down:
Zenzele’s claim shakes MPS

Zenzele’s claim to be Khaya’s son is met with scepticism, but things take a turn when a lawyer arrives with proof backing his story. Winnie is rocked by the revelation that Zenzele’s mother is Masasa Fassie, yet she refuses to believe he’s truly Khaya’s son, and warns him to return to his peaceful life.
Sasa’s worries

Back in Kokstad, Sasa is deeply worried about Zenzele, fearing that he’s walking into a lion’s den without realising the dangers that await him. Khaya insists that Zenzele will hold his own at MPS.
The General’s conviction

When Uhuru confides in the General about Zenzele’s arrival, the General recalls their time in Kokstad and suspects that Zenzele is indeed Khaya’s son. Still, he’s determined to take control of MPS.
Zenzele’s game-changing discovery

Zenzele discovers that the sale of MPS hasn’t been finalised, and with 50% ownership, he’s the only one with the power to approve or block it. Plus, Khaya’s will stipulates that Zenzele step into the role of CEO, a twist that no-one saw coming. And while Winnie’s camp plays hardball, Zenzele remains composed, sharing his story with the Bhodozas – how he was raised, how he searched for his father, and his desire to honour his father’s legacy, even if he can’t have a relationship with him. Will it be enough to soften their resolve?
Tensions rise at MPS

While the power plays rage on for the top spot at MPS, the comrades on the ground face their own challenges. The pressure is on as Ndoni’s mother is tasked with informing the cadres that they won’t be receiving new MPS contracts. The announcement goes badly, and the crowd gets agitated – spurred on by none other than Madlopa! It’s clear that something bigger and more dangerous is brewing.
What’s next for MPS with Zenzele in the mix? Will Winnie accept the truth, or continue to fight it? And how will the escalating tensions affect the future of the company? Stay tuned to Empini for more drama, every Thursday on Showmax!
