Law, Love and Betrayal episode 10: Suppressing the truth
In episode 10 of Law, Love and Betrayal, family tensions, complicated cases, and tough choices put Gugu to the test. While Gatsha’s disapproval of Thabo reaches new heights, Gugu’s loyalty to underdog clients continues to stir up the office. Here’s the recap:
James and Gugu clash over her latest case

Gugu’s newest case has her standing up for a woman being sued by her bank over unpaid loans, and James doesn’t approve. He thinks representing yet another underdog hurts the firm’s reputation, but Gugu’s determined to fight for her client.
Thabo’s surprise visit

Thabo drops by G&A to talk to Gatsha about marrying Gugu and inviting him to the lobola negotiations. But Gatsha is anything but pleased. He not only dislikes Thabo knowing about Gugu’s parentage, but he’s dead set against the marriage, bluntly telling Thabo he’s not good enough for his daughter.
Father knows best?

Gatsha confronts Gugu, urging her to reconsider marrying Thabo. He warns that one day she’ll want a partner who understands her world – something he believes Thabo can’t offer. Gugu’s not having it, though, and shuts him down.
Gugu seeks James’s advice

Despite their earlier disagreement, Gugu turns to James for advice on her case. He drops some knowledge on predatory lending, reminding us all why they make a killer team when they’re on the same page.
Lwazi’s case takes a turn

Meanwhile, Lwazi is defending a client caught stealing but is now countersued for defamation. Just as things look grim, Sam uncovers a game-changing piece of evidence that tips the scales in Lwazi’s favour.
A twist in Gugu’s case
Gugu’s case takes a downturn when learns her client has three loans she can’t repay. Instead of this sinking the case, Gugu turns the surprise into a weapon, arguing against the banks’ practices and winning the day. Another underdog victory!
Ayanda’s promotion

Gatsha stuns Ayanda by announcing her promotion to senior partner. But is this move driven by his guilt over keeping the truth about Gugu’s identity from her? Either way, Ayanda’s not expecting it.
The breakup

Thabo overhears Gugu confiding in her grandfather that she feels he’s rushing things with their engagement. Feeling rejected, he confronts her, accusing her of being embarrassed by him. The argument explodes, and they call it quits. Looks like Thabo and Gugu are done for now.
