More ways to connect to Showmax
Showmax has moved to a brand-new platform, powered by Peacock’s global streaming technology. This means a better user experience for you, but it also means that some older devices won’t be able to support the new tech.
Check which devices are currently supported on Showmax here.
If you’re having trouble streaming on your device, we recommend updating your software. If you still can’t connect, don’t worry – there are many ways to stream Showmax.
Android TV
You can access Android TV via a set-top box that allows your TV (provided it isn’t too old) to connect to the internet. The software is easy to use and the box comes with a remote, so it is a very similar experience to a smart TV. The Showmax app is available on Android TV. Your Android TV box needs to be running Android OS 7+.
Explora Ultra and Streama
Showmax is available on the Explora Ultra and the Streama. You’ll need an internet connection. Find out more here »
DStv Premium subscribers get Showmax included in their subscriptions, while most other DStv subscribers enjoy discounts.
More options
- Google Chromecast is a media-streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port and allows you to cast shows directly from your phone to the TV. Showmax is supported on Chromecast 1st Generation or above, including Chromecast with Google TV.
- Connect your laptop to your TV with an HDMI cable.
- Connect your smartphone or tablet to the TV’s HDMI port via a Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). You’ll need an MHL cable, and to check if your device supports it.
