Cesse Mutungi opens up about hosting the reunion, the show, and so much more
What was your first reaction when you were asked to host The Mommy Club NBO reunion?

When I first got the call, my reaction was literally, “OH MY GOD!!!” Then it hit me… and the anxiety crept in. I mean, this is The Mommy Club! The drama, the glam, the personalities — and now me at the centre of it all?
But once the nerves settled, the excitement kicked in. This wasn’t just another gig. This was a front-row seat to the most talked-about reality showdown in Nairobi.
You’ve interviewed hundreds of people. How does wrangling a reality TV cast compare to your days on the radio?
TV is a totally different space and experience for me. I am VERY camera shy, so it was very intense for me. Radio is a lot more relaxed and personal.
How did you prepare?
I binged every single episode like my life depended on it. I wanted to understand their dynamics, the alliances, the shade, and the real emotions behind every interaction. I wanted to understand each relationship inside-out so I could ask the real questions, stir the right conversations, and get those jaw-dropping moments we all live for in a reunion.
Which edition of The Mommy Club did you watch to get inspiration for your hosting duties?
The SA edition.
How are you planning on addressing everything at the reunion?
Listen, I know everyone’s expecting fireworks — and trust me, they’ll get them — but I’m not coming in guns blazing.
I plan to handle everything calmly, with sensitivity, and by reading the room. These moms have shared their lives with us — their highs, lows, and everything in between them, so it’s important to approach each moment with respect.
What are some of the biggest points you want to address?

We are putting everything on the table — and I mean everything. I am coming in ready to unpack the real talk around the ladies’ interrelations— who's showing up and who’s checked out.
Then there is Ben’s marriage proposal to Carey and Lynne’s break up with Eric Omondi. And oh yes, we are definitely circling back to Carey Priscilla’s vasectomy moment.
Finally, we will revisit the confessions the ladies made during the explosive therapy session organized by Ofentse.
What was your pre-reunion ritual?
A prayer, some soul music, and an energy drink.
How would you describe The Mommy Club NBO cast in three words?
BOLD, BEAUTIFUL, and EXCITING.
If there were a Mommy Club for Nairobi media legends, who else would be on your cast?
Ask me that if it actually happens….lol.
You are known for asking the questions everyone is thinking. Without giving spoilers, did anyone try to dodge a question, and did you let them get away with it?

There were some difficult moments when the questions elicited very emotional reactions but all in all the moms did their best to answer all questions and participate.
Which cast member surprised you the most during the reunion taping?
Lynne
What can viewers expect from the reunion?
One word — unmissable.
It’s going to be juicy, raw, and seriously interesting viewing. Emotions will run high, truths will come out, and some tea might just spill all over the place.
You can now watch part 1 of The Mommy Club NBO reunion.
