Showmax Premier League ambassador Robert Marawa's must-watch fixture
While there may not be a wide array of games to choose from this weekend, 16 and 17 March 2024, in the Premier league due to the FA Cup quarter finals, the few games that will take place promise to be action packed.
The weekend kicks off with a clash between out-of-form teams Burnley and Brentford. Both teams are desperate for a win, having been poor for most of the season. Brentford will be hoping that their in-form African attacker Yoane Wissa continues his fine form and will hope that the return of African star Frank Onyeka will spark a comeback for the team.
Burnley will be hoping that their luck changes, having thrown away a two-goal lead against West Ham last weekend. Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is desperate for a win having only won a single game at home all season.
Luton will also take on Nottingham Forest, while, later in the day, Fulham welcome high-flying Tottenham Hotspur to Craven Cottage. If form is anything to go by, Spurs will be aiming for yet another win.
On Sunday, West Ham take on Aston Villa, who continue to push for a top four finish. Villa took a hammering at the hands of Spurs last weekend and will be hoping to immediately bounce back, while West Ham will be hoping to do one better after last weekend’s comeback draw.

Showmax sat down with its Premier League ambassador Robert Marawa this week to ask him about his favourite fixture ahead of this weekend’s Premier League games.
Marawa has selected the Burnley vs Brentford game as his pick of the weekend, and here is why:
Burnley vs Brentford: two teams out of form go head to head this weekend in what is expected to be an entertaining game.
“My game of choice for this weekend is the Burnley vs Brentford game for me. It’s a very simple choice for me. You go back to last weekend. Burnley were 2-0 up. They were up against West Ham United. They surrendered that lead to eventually draw 2-2. And the final result for them may have just been a call for them to go back to the Championship, something that would be majorly disappointing. This weekend they get to host the Bees at Turf Moor, knowing that they have got the worst home record in the league. Vincent Kompany’s team have literally won just one game at home, where they have totalled five points, and ironically when you look at the away record, they have more points. So, five points at home and nine points away is really something to worry about. But, hey, Brentford’s current season has not been the best either. When you look at their return to topflight football in the Premier League, they have gone five games without a win, which is literally worrisome. And although the expectations have been on Ivan Toney as an individual for Brentford, their Afcon returnee Yoane Wissa has shown some incredible form. He has scored spectacular goals, like last weekend’s overhead kick, which exemplified the form he has been in of recent. That goal has perhaps sparked the magic for Brentford and Thomas Frank’s side that have been literally poor on the road. They have had eight losses in nine league games. So, for me, for many different reasons, I have chosen this game between Burnley and Brentford. Let’s see. It promises to be a spark and maybe for the fans and the coaches a way to survive.”
