Showmax: Your front row seat to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Showmax is thrilled to announce an exciting addition to its offering. Subscribers can now enjoy live coverage of the Olympic Games directly within their Showmax Premier League mobile plans, courtesy of SuperSport.
This special event offering allows sports fans to enjoy the drama of the Olympics all on the go. Starting from the 26 July 2024, Showmax will be the mobile home for live streaming a wide range of Olympic events, ensuring fans never miss a moment of the action.

Showmax will offer a compelling line-up of live Olympic events, including all men’s and women’s football games, men’s and women’s basketball, swimming, gymnastics, athletics, men’s and women’s rugby sevens, as well as men’s and women’s hockey.
Beyond live streaming, Showmax will also offer a comprehensive on-demand library of Olympic content.
Dive deep into an extensive on-demand library featuring iconic moments like Olympic podium portraits and classic finals. Relive the Tokyo 2020 Games, explore the journeys of Paris 2024's African hopefuls, and get inspired by "From the Top: Olympians and Rockstars." Showmax also boasts films like "72" and "A Gathering of Champions," offering unparalleled access to the world of sports.

Fans can relive the drama, analyse key moments, and celebrate victories with access to highlights and medal moments, as well as records and milestones.
Marc Jury, CEO of Showmax, said he was incredibly excited to be bringing the Olympic Games to Showmax. “This demonstrates our commitment to providing sports fans with unparalleled access to the biggest sporting events in the world,” said Jury.
“The Olympic Games is a celebration of human potential and achievement, and we can’t wait to bring the drama, excitement, and inspiration of the event directly to mobile phones across Africa.”
South Africa will be represented by a team of 230 athletes and support staff. Having returned with just three medals from Tokyo 2020 – two in swimming and one in surfing – an improved performance is expected from Team SA, with several high-profile athletes showing signs of challenging for podium places in Paris.

In aquatics, all eyes will be on swimming sensation Tatjana Smith (née Schoenmaker), who will be vying for back-to-back Olympic medals, having already claimed two medals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The breaststroke specialist was relatively unknown in Tokyo, but now enters the waters as a genuine medal contender in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events.

Legendary swimmer Chad le Clos will also be in the spotlight, with the Durban-born swimmer competing in the final Olympic tournament of his career. Le Clos will be desperate to end his career on a high note, having found it tough in the pool in the past few years.

South Africa will also be hoping to claim medals in athletics, with their hopes laying on the shoulders of 100m sensation Akani Simbine. The South African 100m champion and record-holder is at the peak of his performance leading up to Paris, and, at 30 years old, has grown in experience and determination, with this tipped to be his year to shine on the big stage.

Team South Africa will also be banking on their rugby sevens team “The Blitzboks” to claim a medal at this year’s spectacle in Paris.
