Smile (2022)
The #21 biggest movie of 2022, Smile centres on Dr Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon from Mare of Easttown), a therapist who’s traumatised by the bizarre death of a patient. As terrifying occurrences begin taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.
The psychological horror’s cast includes Jessie T Usher (The Boys), Teen Choice nominee Kal Penn (Clarice, Designated Survivor), and Black Reel winner Rob Morgan (Stranger Things, Mudbound), as well as Emmy nominee Robin Weigert (Deadwood, AHS, Big Little Lies), Fright Meter nominee Kyle Gallner (Scream), and Caitlin Stasey (Tomorrow, When the War Began).
The film picked up multiple award nominations on the festival circuit, and an 80% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with both Bacon and debut feature director Parker Finn drawing widespread praise from the critics.
