BBNaija: Here’s how the first eviction of the season went down

The Lockdown season has given us more drama in two weeks than we’ve seen in a while. From relationships to fights and love triangles, BBNaija is more intriguing every day.

The first BBNaija Lockdown eviction came with tension and tears and was live-streamed on Showmax. As usual, Ebuka looked dapper and hosted with DJ Neptune, who provided music.

By the end of the evening, two housemates got the axe while Ebuka advised the remaining housemates on how best to play the game.

Here’s what went down on Sunday night’s eviction show.

Eviction plot twist

The twist introduced last week means all housemates except for the Head of House and Deputy Head of House are up for eviction. Viewers voted to save their favourites while the fate of the bottom four would be determined by their fellow housemates.

Ebuka, with his usual dramatic pauses, called the bottom four housemates to be evicted: they were Lilo, Eric, Praise and Ka3na. This was received with shock and anxiety from the housemates as they realised they had the task of deciding the fate of their friends. After Ebuka called the four housemates with the lowest votes, he also announced that there would be two evictions. The saved housemates were then called into the Diary Room one by one to vote out at least one person. It was really intense.

The final verdict

After the voting by housemates, Ebuka announced the first evictees for the season. The first housemate to be evicted was Ka3na, and the second was Lilo. Interestingly, prior to this, Lilo had already expressed confidence to Biggie in her Diary session that she was not going anywhere. It is no wonder that she was dressed simply in jeans, a plain pink sweater and no makeup, but sadly it turned out different. The evicted housemates were then given 10 seconds to leave the house.

Post-eviction interview

After watching a video on the highlights of their time in the house, the evicted housemates joined Ebuka on the stage for an interview. Ka3na came in first and Ebuka asked her how she felt. She said she was experiencing mixed feelings and as her farewell message said she was all about selling her brand now. She also said she was grateful to Big Brother for the platform to showcase herself. Ebuka asked who she would miss most and she said Lucy and Dorathy, as those are the housemates she had grown closest to.

Ebuka, with his degree in shaking tables, asked if she wouldn’t miss Praise, to which she said she would miss him like every other housemate.

Lilo, in her own interview with Ebuka, expressed her surprise at being evicted. She said she thought she would be in the house longer. She added that she felt no regret about how she played the game since she had been showcasing who she is. She expressed her desire to focus more on her business and go for her Masters, too.

Ebuka asked how she felt about Eric and she said: “We are good’’. He slyly asked about her boyfriend outside the house, but she gave no response.

Words of wisdom

Visibly shaken and sober, the housemates received words of wisdom from Ebuka. He spoke about their lack of seriousness with their games, wagers and tasks and how they seemed to prefer preparing for Saturday night parties. He also spoke about the recent drama happening in the house as there had been a lot of gossip. He asked them to man up and approach each other with whatever issues they may have, rather than say things behind each other’s backs.

As usual, he dropped a thought-provoking quote saying: “Goat no know say yam go cost”.
