Flawsome episode 1 recap: “Monogamy and wealth do not agree!”
Flawsome opens by introducing us to its four central characters.
We first meet the empathetic Rahmat Ekong, who fights a war against women and child trafficking through her NGO. A victim visits her office to beg for help. She was led into prostitution with a promise of a better life in Lagos, where she is forced to sleep with a man every day, even when she is tired. Ekong’s husband thinks the girl is a junkie who is not worth the hassle, but she
disagrees and goes on a dangerous rescue mission.

Then there is Ivie, an intern at a fashion house, who is dealing with an unkind boss and a gambling boyfriend. There is a more reasonable man on her matter, but he has his baggage. Away from Rahmat and Ivie’s not-so-exciting worlds, we are launched into the glitzy world of Ifeyinwa Okoro and Dolapo Makinde. Makinde runs a PR firm whose clientele includes superstars like Wizkid and top politicians and Okoro is the COO of Zenco electronics, hoping to be CEO.
A particular politician, Senator Jubril, is Dolapo’s current headache. He has been accused of soliciting prostitutes, affecting his election campaign. Dolapo asks the senator if he’s ever engaged in extra-marital affairs to know the extent of the mess. The senator replies he is a wealthy man and cheating comes with his status, but he maintains he doesn’t do prostitutes. Dolapo’s next move is convincing Jubril’s wife to publicly support her husband and help clean his image. She reluctantly agrees after a convincing proposal by Dolapo to give her ubiquitous influence.
Later that night, the ladies gather at a lounge to discuss their day, the highs and lows. The struggle of landing a man in Lagos – despite being comfortable, Dolapo mentions it’s been forever since she’s got any action. They banter about it as Rahmat and Ivie poke at the singleness of Dolapo and Ifeyinwa, when she announces she’s becoming CEO of Zenco!
But will she? We will find out in next week’s episode.
