One of the most popular Afrikaans drama series is available to watch online. kykNET’s mega-hit soapie Getroud met Rugby: Die Sepie kicks off a brand-new season this month. The soapie revolves around the stars of a Johannesburg rugby team, their wives and families and all the drama that surrounds their often-glamorous lives. In Season 5, there’s a new coach in town set to ruffle some feathers.
Rugby fans and soapie fans alike are hooked on the behind-the-scenes goings-on, from club politics and high-pressure tournaments to locker-room antics and personal dramas.
The series scored a 2020 SAFTA for Best Script and a 2019 SAFTA for Best Art Direction/Production and Design.
