A Star is Born (2018)

A Star is Born is the story of a star on the rise, and one on the wane. Jackson Maine is a country-music megastar, but his career is on a downward slide thanks in part of the ravages of his drug and alcohol addictions. Then, in a drag bar, he meets waitress Ally. As they fall in love, she gets her big break. But her success doesn’t look like either of them had imagined, and their fame can’t protect them from real life.

He sings! He acts! He directs! A Star is Born is definitely Bradley Cooper’s baby and he does an amazing job as the charismatic, flawed Jack. Lady Gaga was born to play Ally, and you’ll be hearing her voice in your head for weeks to come. The film also stars Sam Elliott as Jack’s brother, Bobby and Dave Chappelle as Jack’s best friend.

The movie scored 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and got eight Oscar and five Golden Globe nominations, winning both Best Song awards for Lady Gaga’s “Shallow”.
