An intimate look at the high-flying lives of Major League DJz
Haaibo! It’s partoosh time with twins Bandile and Banele Mbere aka Major League DJz. They’re pioneers of Amapiano (the isiZulu word for pianos) and with a decade of jamming to the grooves under their belt, they know what they’re doing! And now you get an inside look at their lives with Inside Life: Major League.
An intimate life
The twins have famous friends and followers and they’re going to blow up on your screens in the show. There’s everyone from MTV Base Culture Squad member Uncle Vinny, to their manager Mimi Thabethe, photographer Khaya Bhengu, road manager Thato, their family and some of the biggest musical stars in the country.
The twins say before the pandemic they’d never have agreed to a reality show because they’re extremely private. “When the opportunity presented itself, we decided to take a leap of faith into something different. We are very private people, and you’ll get to see things that may surprise you about us, like our love for bucket-list adventures,” they say.
Camera life
It hasn’t been easy with cameras in their faces 24/7 but after seeing how much work goes on behind the scenes, the DJz are part of the team 100%. “We’re always so caught up with work and other stuff, so we never get to see how much effort we’re putting in on a daily basis, those videos made us realise that there’s actually progress.”
Unforgettable travels
There are just 8 episodes in this first season but they’re packed with travelling the continent as they work, play, grow their Major League DJz and just chill with mates.
“The continued growth and evolution of the Major League brand is a clear representation of African artistic excellence. I am excited that for the first time, viewers will get to see the duo as not just DJs, but see them encompass their many titles from father, friend, businessmen, mentors and dreamers. This is another first for the duo and a great step in reinforcing their brand promise of growing the culture,” says their manager Mimi.
