Planning on taking over 2020? Some badass shows to watch
Be fearless this year and tackle life’s challenges head-on by watching these badass shows streaming on Showmax.
Succession S1-2
One of the best TV shows of 2019, Succession follows the utterly wealthy and tragically dysfunctional Roy family who don’t mind doing terrible things to each other as they scramble to succeed their father, Logan Roy, head of a huge media conglomerate. The Roys are spoilt and entitled, and they have all the traits we abhor in the uber-rich 1%, but they are badass in the way they embrace their wealth. They are not looking to be liked, they have never needed it – just a family of billionaires doing or saying anything they want, to other people and to each other, without any consequences. But that’s the thing about having “f*** you money.”
Check out Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti in Billions if you are looking for something similar.
Vikings S6
From Ragnar Lothbrok to Lagertha to Bjorn Ironside to Ivar the Boneless, Vikings is full of badass characters who have given us some of the show’s most memorable moments. A fearless warrior among men, who can forget how Lagertha took back control of Hedeby from her usurper would-be husband Kalf? Or the many times she stood up for herself and for her dignity even against the great Ragnar Lothbrok.
Currently in its sixth and final season, Vikings has no intention of slowing down as it delivers a bloody battle for Norway, and of course some shocking twists and deaths that see some of our favourite characters enter Valhalla.
Suits S1-8
Harvey Specter once said: “When you’re backed against the wall, break the goddam thing down.” And that’s the badassery attitude we must all adopt in 2020.
But awesome as he may be, Harvey Specter isn’t the only one who’s proven that he can swim with sharks in the cutthroat world of Suits. Of course there’s Mike, Donna and even Louis Litt, but may we never forget that Harvey wouldn’t be the lawyer he is without the mentorship of the fierce, incomparable Jessica Pearson who left the show in the seventh season. Watch Suits on Showmax and find your inner Harvey Specter.
