Gallery: Nqoba Zulu’s funeral on The Wife Season 3
The Wife Season 3 episodes 7-9 mark the end of the road for Nqoba Zulu, played by Abdul Khoza.
Nqoba’s death occurs in episode 6 when his lifeless body is found face down in his room by his wife Mandisa and his brothers.
The death of Nqobizitha was a bittersweet moment for fans of the Showmax telenovela as it not only meant the end of Nqoba – but the role also highlighted the amazing talent that Abdul Khoza possesses.
Just recently, the cast of The Wife gave Abdul his flowers. Showmax then joined in, releasing a touching tribute video to the actor. As Zikhona Sodlaka, who plays his lover Mandisa, says, “He served the story; he served the book. Everyone who knew Nqoba from the book knows. When they see Nqoba on screen, they clap and say, ‘That’s my guy.’ Everything about him was so beautiful, so on brand, so accurate.”
On Abdul’s first morning as part of The Wife’s passionate 5am club of supporters, he says, “What’s important right now is that I would like to say thank you to everyone and show my appreciation. I still have the comb and the hat that you know me for and I will be with you till the end, all the time.”
He also had a special message for the remaining Zulu brothers. “I beg you, please don’t cry, because there are kids learning from you, and you need to be strong. So stay strong and hold the fort for me.”
And in episode 9, the funeral gave the iconic character of Nqobizitha Zulu the colourful send-off he deserved.
