#Gomora: Melusi causes tension at the dinner table
March marks a year since Gomora premiered on our screens and what an emotional roller-coaster ride it’s been, not only for the characters but for viewers as well.
We’ve seen many heartfelt moments in this new telenovela. Yet, in the same breath, viewers have also witnessed many horrible acts committed by various Gomora characters – the latest being the damning secret Nthati and Gladys are keeping from Melusi.
Langa and Melusi’s bond
You know you’re asking for trouble when you invite your ex-girlfriend and her child to have dinner with your wife and kid, right? But Melusi does not see anything wrong with that.
After Melusi and Langa’s near-fatal car accident en route to a school exhibition, Melusi feels guilty and feels the need to shelter Langa even more.
When the two are discharged from the hospital, Melusi invites Langa and his mom, Nthati, for dinner at his house. His wife, Gladys, is livid over the dinner invitation not only because Nthati is Melusi’s ex-girlfriend but because of the secret she’s been keeping from her husband – that Langa is actually Melusi’s son, whom Nthati had before they broke up 17 years ago.
The awkward dinner
At the dinner table, the atmosphere is jovial as Melusi and Nthati throw light-hearted jabs at each other while reminiscing about the past. On the other side of the table, Gladys has on a sour face – she’s not liking this one bit.
“Goodness, it’s getting late. I think it’s time to head to bed, you know?” says Gladys.
Her attempt to end dinner early lands on deaf ears. Gladys then tells her husband that she’s headed to bed one last time. Sadly for her, she gets brushed off with a simple goodnight from Melusi. The dinner continues without her.
Ouch!
Viewers not impressed
Although Melusi is an amazing father and husband, viewers feel that he did not handle the situation at the dinner table correctly. Gladys may be an annoying and jealous wife, but this time around, Melusi could’ve been in her corner for a change.
