Interview: This Body Works For Me - Bubbly
Noluvuyo “Bubbly” Sodela (29) is from Gqeberha. Bubbly is a former exotic dancer and founder of Aesthetics by Bubbly Sodela, a spa treatment organisation that serves vaginal spa treatments ("Coochie Care") and facial beauty care. In the early years of her life, Bubbly dreamt of being an actress, but she felt that acting didn't pay enough for her to have a healthy financial life. Bubbly chose exotic dancing and OnlyFans content creation to maintain herself and get back to school.
Life after graduating
After graduating, Bubbly retired from exotic dancing and content creation to start her own business. During the time she had spent in the adult entrainment industry, she learnt that people want spa treatments and what she calls Coochie Care treatments. “People used to ask me for remedies to use when they had razor bumps on their private parts, and I used to help them,” says Bubbly.
Bubbly as an exotic dancer
Bubbly was one of three Black exotic dancers at the strip club where she worked during her entertainment era.
“The racism at that club taught me to toughen up real quick. I had to push through the tough times to get to where I am right now,” she says.
One of the many other challenges she faced as an exotic dancer is that “men love dumb girls", she says. She believed that if she just followed along with what they wanted and never objected to what they said to her, she was most likely going to get what she wanted and have them coming back to her.
Aspirations for the future
During her journey in the adult entertainment industry, Bubbly made up to R30 000 in one night. She aspires to educate women about the importance of taking care of their body parts.
“I host woman empowerment events when I can, to speak to women who want to know more about the adult entertainment industry and how to keep their body parts healthy at all times,” she says. She would love to expand her business throughout Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth.
