Life with Kelly Khumalo Season 3 episode 1: Kelly gets candid about Senzo Meyiwa’s family
Life With Kelly Khumalo Season 3 episode 1 sets the tone of what seems like a very intense new season of the show. While some people hide parts of who they are, the single mother of two happily embraces her flaws and isn’t afraid to live her truth, no matter how messy it might be. She proved this once again in the Season 3 premiere. The muso opened up about her feelings towards her late boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa’s family and also shared her disappointment in them.
Addressing the noise
So, a lot has happened since the last season of the show aired. Senzo’s court case started a few months ago and there’s even a documentary about the late Bafana Bafana soccer star. This has resulted in Kelly’s name being dragged on social media and in the news.
However, the singer, actress and entrepreneur doesn’t seem too bothered. On the first episode, Kelly was followed by cameras to an interview on 702. When asked about how she deals and copes with everything that’s happening in her life right now, Kelly told the host, Relebogile Mabotja: “First of all, I’m not coping, I’m living. And secondly, the noise is external, has absolutely nothing to do with me.” She shared that the world would hear her voice when the time was right.
“Whatever personal feelings they have towards me, I feel like it’s a projection because this is not the only case that has been a failure when it comes to the justice or South African justice system.”
Kelly thinks that the case is getting all this attention because she’s involved. She added: “It is something that a lot of South Africans are going through on a daily basis. Why is it different because there’s a Kelly Khumalo involved?”

Clearing the air
Kelly then linked up with her good friend Wanda Baloyi to get more things off her chest. During their candid conversation, Wanda wanted to know whether Kelly was aware of the Senzo documentary.
“I was very much aware. They wanted me to be part of the documentary and I’m like, ‘no, this is not my documentary. This documentary is about Senzo.'”
The fact that Senzo’s mother shared in the documentary that she had gone to a witch doctor to get rid of her made Kelly uncomfortable.
“How are you getting rid of me? I’m a child of the Gods. If you try to do away with me, it comes back to you… She was projecting because her husband cheated on her,” Kelly told Wanda.
She also revealed that Senzo’s family didn’t love him. “He was a cash cow. You know the first thing that woman said when Senzo passed? ‘Who’s going to feed us?’”. Kelly added that she would take care of Senzo financially.
“They [Senzo’s family] hate the fact that I did not die that day,” she said.
At the end of the conversation, Kelly shared that she’s sad about how Senzo’s legacy “ended up this way”.
“Senzo was a very peaceful person. He had his flaws, but he was a very peaceful person which is what I loved and respected about him.”
Another highlight of episode 1 is when Kelly brings celebrity friend Somizi Mhlongo to tears at her gospel concert. Somizi is so enamored by Kelly’s performance that he finds himself lost for words when he speaks to Kelly backstage.
