As the competition winds up and the top three contestants get ready to battle it out for a chance to be crowned the Nigerian Idol Season 7 winner, we think it’s only right that we recap all the unforgettable moments on the show so far.

Check them out.

The plot twist

This season, the organisers of the show pulled a plot twist that none of us saw coming. Imagine our surprise and excitement to hear that there would be a Top 12 instead of the usual Top 10. Talk about a plot twist.

Although the choice of the last two contestants, Joel and Precious, was met with mixed feelings on social media, it was still beautiful to see contestants who ordinarily wouldn’t have made it to the Top 10 perform on the Idol stage one more time.

It will be interesting to see if this will become an Idol tradition or if it was just a one-off twist to the show. Either way, it definitely made for an interesting watch.

When Zadok’s performance caught the attention of Michael Bolton

When you are big, you are big and Zaddy is big!

Following his performance of Micheal Bolton’s “Soul Provider” on the show, which was arguably one of the most iconic performances of the season, social media was agog with high praise for Zadok.

We were then pleasantly surprised to see that the legendary Micheal Bolton reposted Zadok’s performance on his Instagram story. Even Zadok himself couldn’t believe his luck and said that it was one of the highlights of his Nigerian Idol journey so far.

This was certainly one of those moments that will be treasured for a long time to come.

Top 7 perform judge D’banj’s “Oliver Twist”

Every week, the contestants treated us to stellar group performances but one of the most memorable of all was the group performance of D’banj’s 2012 hit single, “Oliver Twist”.

You could just tell from D’banj’s excitement that he was honoured to have the contestants perform his renowned hit single. All the more special was the fact that the performance coincided with the 10th anniversary of the award-winning hit single.

Talk about an awwn moment.

Adekunle Gold and Simi making us scream God When?

Is your baby really your baby if he doesn’t treat you like AG baby treats his baby?

One of the most memorable moments of this season was Adekunle Gold surprising his wife, Simi, who serves as one of the judges on the show.

Posing as a super fan, Adekunle Gold brought Simi a cake and the look of sheer surprise that turned into excitement was everything.

Faith’s “Koroba” performance

Faith was certainly a fan fave this season for many reasons. The soft-spoken Simi stan no doubt had the voice of an angel but it wasn’t until her sultry performance of Tiwa Savages’ hit single “Koroba”, that viewers fully appreciated her range.

This performance broke the internet and left tweeps in awe of her immaculate vibes. Many even alluded to the fact that they could barely tell the difference between Faith and Tiwa Savage because everything was on point, from the hair to the makeup and outfit.

Faith is definitely who she says she is and that’s why this performance makes the list of our most unforgettable moments so far.

Pimp P came out to play

Progress is undoubtedly a vocal powerhouse and one of the biggest talents this season. We remember his first audition like it was yesterday and we instinctively knew that he would go very far in the competition.

Pastor Progress, as he was fondly called by host Ik Osakioduwa, was popular for his church-like song choices that left us wondering if we would ever see the other sides of Pastor P. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long to see Pimp P. The alter ego of Pastor P come out to play, and, boy, were we loving it.

His rendition of Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” had to have been one of Progress’ best performances of all time and certainly one of our favourites.

Judge Yinka Davies as a guest judge on the show

Judge Yinka was certainly one of the most interesting judges on the show this season. The delectable Iron Lady has mastered the art of keeping mute if she has nothing nice to say about a performance and enthusiastically expressing her approval if she thoroughly enjoyed a performance.

Her facial expressions and mannerisms in particular made for a rather interesting watch.

Banty’s “Bibanke” performance

Wildcard would be the perfect word to describe Banty as she has consistently defied the odds through out the course of the competition. The energy goddess hasn’t necessarily had many performances that left us in awe of her beautiful vocal texture, largely because of her poor song choices.

However, when Banty performed Asa’s “Bibanke”, we were blown away. The emotion pouring out of her was so tangible one could almost touch it.

This performance was certainly one for the books and we loved to see it.
