Parable (2020)
When a famous lay preacher, Reverend Randal Day, accidentally conjures a demonic spirit while trying to “cure” a teenage girl, Esther, through aggressive gay conversion therapy at one of his facilities, he tries to hide his mistake in a church house deep within a security complex. The reverend has to convince the current occupant, Julian, a recovering drug addict trying to win back the respect of his family, that they are indeed doing God’s work.
Hell-bent on orchestrating a mass suicide in its name, the demon – an ancient spirit malevolent spirit that calls herself Arda – starts exerting her evil influence on the preacher and his helper, and they resort to desperate means to exorcise her, all while keeping Ester sedated.
Meanwhile, Kasper, an oblivious slacker with a recently tarnished reputation, starts getting dream visits from the missing girl in the news, asking him to help her escape. Kasper convinces his friends, Lina, a no-nonsense party girl, and Lloyd, a drug-dealing conspiracy theorist, to help him rescue Esther, they set the stage for the evil to spill out into the streets and put everyone they know in harm’s way.
