Quiz: What South African animal would your Patronus be?
First things first, what is a Patronus?
It’s advanced magic that powerful wizards like Hogwarts Professors Dumbledore and Snape could conjure up after years of studying… or like saviour of the world Harry Potter, who was able to master the spell by the time he was 13. It’s a protection spell, basically, a projection of whatever the evil Dementors feed on while attacking a person.
Harry Potter character Miranda Goshawk explains the Patronus animals as “this ancient and mysterious charm to conjure a magical guardian, a projection of all your most positive feelings. The Patronus Charm is difficult, and many witches and wizards are unable to produce a full, corporeal Patronus, a guardian who generally takes the shape of the animal with whom they share the deepest affinity. You may suspect, but you will never truly know what form your Patronus will take until you succeed in conjuring it.”
For Harry, it’s a stag – which he conjures in movie #3 Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. It’s different for everyone… and you’d be no different if you were a witch or wizard living in the movies filled with characters from author JK Rowling’s bestselling novels.
