Seng’khathele: A guide to breaking up with your partner
What do you when you’ve had enough of your significant other? Forget about text messages and phone calls. So, what’s better than telling the person face-to-face? Well, how about taking them to a TV show and basically showing the whole nation that you no longer want them. Yeah, that seems to work for the participants on Seng’khathele.
The show, which premiered on Mzansi Wethu this year, is now available on Showmax.
Why do people break up?
Get ready to see some of the funniest and saddest reasons why people dump their partners.
The show is hosted by Grassroots actress Lerato Mvelase, who, by the way, believes that some of the biggest reasons couples break in the 21st century are social media, finance, miscommunication or non-communication and lack of respect.
She revealed this to Mzansi Magic during an interview, adding that when you’ve been dumped, you should “exercise, put on nice clothes, do your makeup and have a nice lunch with friends.” And have a good cry, she adds.
No hard feelings
If you’ve never dumped anyone in your life and need a little assistance, then get ready for some tips (and excuses). Seng’khathele reveals that there are many reasons why people leave their partners. One of the ladies on the show makes it very clear that she wants nothing to do with her partner because he doesn’t take care of their children. To show that there are no hard feelings, she gives him advice on how to treat his next girlfriend.
You see, breakups don’t always have to be dramatic. Well, unless if the person you’re trying to get rid of refuses to let you go. Despite being told that he’s no longer wanted, one of the guys on the show refuses to accept it. Even after his girlfriend tells him that she doesn’t have feelings for him, he just doesn’t want to hear it.
You can’t change people
The show will also teach you that you can’t change people, no matter how hard you try. When you realise that the person you’re with doesn’t quite fit where you are in your life, then maybe it’s time to leave. That’s a lesson that one of the women learned the hard way. After coming to this realisation, she thought it would be best if she and her partner went their separate ways. In the end, she dropped some wise words about how the decision to change has to come from the person.
There are obviously a lot more reasons why people to end their relationships. Seng’khathele clearly shows this. Not only that, but it might also give you some ideas on how you can leave a relationship you no longer want to be in.
