Temptation Island South Africa E8: Elimination sends two hot singles packing
Because the couples live under the same roof as the hot singles, elimination rounds aren’t an easy process. Although the couples haven’t developed romantic feelings for the single that they send home, they’ve established a genuine friendship with them, which makes parting ways with the single heartbreaking for everyone. This plays out in Episode 8 of Temptation Island South Africa.
The couple groups each send one of the gorgeous singles home, which means that the numbers are dwindling. This can only signify that the journey in Paradise is soon coming to an end. Things are heating up, so let’s get into the episode.
Warning: Spoilers ahead for the 8th episode of Temptation Island South Africa
Two singles face elimination in Temptation Island SA
Eyebrows are raised when host Phat Joe arrives at both villas unannounced. The couples have come to understand that “Joe is the bearer of bad news”. Without wasting any time, he drops a bombshell: both villas are to eliminate a single. “Just one?” whispers Estelle under her breath, adding that she expected that the women would be sending more guys home, especially the ones who aren’t going out of their way to forge a connection with the women… We’re looking at you, Muggz.
The four women deliberate and as always, their decision is unanimous: Sethu is on the chopping block. While he’s good-looking, charming and easy to be around, none of the women share chemistry with him. Like a gentleman, Sethu bows out with his held high and a smile on his face.
Meanwhile, at the men’s villa, there are mixed ideas about who they should eliminate. Grant believes that Eve should leave but Sifiso quickly responds with bluntness in his voice: “Eve isn’t going anywhere.” After a lengthy discussion, the men give Palesa the boot. She isn’t surprised. After her disaster date with Sifiso in Episode 7, she could tell that she would soon be sent home.
“Palesa, you’ve been a guardian angel, comforting everyone and making us all feel like we all belong [in the house]. Seeing you dress up every day… wow! You’re beautiful and that’s inside and out,” says Grant. Palesa takes the rejection well but she doesn’t leave before she gives Sifiso a piece of her mind, stating: “Be truthful to yourself.” Sifiso is a little rattled by the comment.
Ceejay is touched on his studio
A highlight of the episode is when CeeJay throws a tantrum. Basically, he’s threatened by Jerry and Nthabi’s connection. CeeJay is visibly irritated that Jerry bought flowers for Nthabi behind his back. As Nthabi’s supposed frontrunner, CeeJay thought that Jerry would at least give him the courtesy of telling him before he woos Nthabi.
Feeling betrayed and blindsided, CeeJay walks up to Jerry in the kitchen and tells him: “I don’t think that we’re boys no more. Boys don’t go behind my back and pull these kinds of stunts.” Ultimately, Jerry isn’t fazed by CeeJay’s reaction. He didn’t travel all the way from the Vaal to make friends in Knysna – he came to find love. To sum it up, Jerry will continue courting and pursuing Nthabi.
A fresh start for Grant on Temptation Island SA
During the date selection, Grant picks Lerato rather than his regular choice, Coco. When he tells Coco that he has set his sights on another woman, the conversation quickly turns into an awkward encounter. Coco is beyond cold. At this point, she’s no longer interested in Grant or anything he has to say. While Grant thinks that she’s outraged because he is moving on, she feels the opposite. Coco seeks space from Grant to the point that she doesn’t want to speak to him. The only thing left for Coco to do is write Grant a letter, in bold, telling him to stay away from her.
Revelations at the bonfire
The couples attend a bonfire session this episode and it’s tense. While there aren’t any shockers for the women, it’s yet another tough experience for Nthabi. Firstly, she reveals that she isn’t wearing her necklace with a lock that signifies her solid bond with MJ because she’s “done” with the relationship. What’s more disheartening for Nthabi is when she’s shown MJ cuddling with Bontle and he mentions that “life goes on [after his unofficial split from Nthabi].”
“As for me, I’m ready to move along. MJ has given up on the relationship and so have I,” says Nthabi in a shaky voice.
As for Grant, he’s upset when he is presented with a clip of his girlfriend, Precious, kissing Dain. Grant points out that it’s the one thing he didn’t want to see and he’s broken. However, seeing Precious kiss and hold hands with another man doesn’t mean that their romance is over. Grant is willing to fight for Precious and give her the benefit of the doubt.
But will Grant keep the faith in his romance with Precious when he learns that she’s shared yet another kiss with Dain in the next episode?
